I'm thinking about purchasing a bike from an online retailer in the US (State Bicycles) or UK (Ribble) and having it shipped here. The bike I'm looking at are about $2000 to $2400 CAD. Would the tax just be the standard 15% I would pay at my local shop or would it be higher? Has anyone done this? level 2 Perfect! If it's made outside the US but imported from the US you do pay customs duty. This is because of the free trade agreement between Canada and the US. And can you guess what the customs agency does by default, if it's not made absolutely clear that the goods coming in from the US have been manufactured there?
